Pura Besakih. Known as the “Mother Temple” in Bali, Pura Besakih is situated 3,000 feet up the slopes of Mount Agung in Karang Asem Regency, East Bali. It is the largest and holiest temple of Hindu religion in Bali.
The temple is built on six levels, terraced up the slope. it is an extensive complex made up of twenty-three temples that sit on parallel ridges, with the largest and most important being Pura Penataran Agung.
