Tanah Lot, one of the most popular places of interest in Bali, is located on the coast of West Bali, at the village of Beraban in the Tabanan Regency. The temple can reached about 45 minutes by car from the main southern tourist areas : Sanur, Kuta, Legian or Seminyak , and about 30 to 40 minutes from Ubud.
The temple was significantly influenced by Hinduism. It is one of seven sea temples around the Balinese coast. and has cultural significance to the Balinese. Each of the sea temples was established within eyesight of the next to form a chain along the south-western coast.
Tanah Lot temple is located on a rock just offshore. As an extremely most visited and photographed temple in Bali, the whole area is often very busy indeed, especially in the late afternoons, pre-sunset to witness this magnificent temple scene against a background of crashing waves.
